Sutler Regulations

The Franklin 140th Anniversary Battle Reenactment will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 1, 2 and 3, 2004 at Franklin, Tennessee.   

     There will be battles all three days.  School day is Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. followed by the Battle of Springhill.  The Battle of Franklin is scheduled for Saturday afternoon, and the Battle of Nashville on Sunday. 

     There were over 8,000 soldier reenactors, plus the civilian reenactors at the 135th Anniversary Reenactment.  It is anticipated that there will be 10,000 soldiers and over 50,000 spectators at this 140th Anniversary reenactment.

Sutler registration is limited to 75 sutlers. We desire that all sutlers have a profitable event, and the registration will close at 75 sutlers.

Deadline for applications:  June 1, 2004.  Please send applications early.  Space is expected to fill early.

Attire:  All sutlers, and employees, are to vend their goods in 1860’s period attire from 1860’s (and wear period attire any time open for business), period-type tents, wagons, tables, and/or blankets.

Set-Up:  All sutlers must set up in “Sutler’s Row” where you are assigned.  Space will be pre-assigned to the size you indicate on application. 

Arrival time:  Sutler Registration will begin on Tuesday morning September 28 at 10:00 a.m., and must be completely set up no later than 9:00 a.m. on Friday, October 1, 2004. 

No vehicles are allowed in Sutler’s Row from 9:00 a.m. on Friday until Sunday after 4:00 p.m.  Troops may begin arriving on Thursday, September 30 and may stay through Monday, Oct. 4.

Goods:  Only period goods or authentic reproductions of the same period are permitted to be sold, and exhibited.   You may not sell modern jewelry, Indian goods, rendezvous furs and skins, flea market items, etc.

Souvenir items may NOT be sold:  Souvenirs include, but are not limited to T-shirts, ball caps, bumper stickers, coffee mugs, pins, key chains, comic books, etc.

Food and Beverages may not be sold by sutlers in fairness to the beverage, popcorn and food vendors.

Sutler Camping, Modern Camping, Parking will be in designated areas only.

Pets are not allowed.

You are an important part of the Franklin 140th Anniversary Battle Reenactment.  We want to work with you to insure your comfort, safety, and that you have a profitable event. 

You will receive a letter confirming receipt of your application, and additional e-mails and bulletins will keep you updated on the reenactment.  Maps will be posted on the web site, and will be mailed to you before the reenactment.
